UFC star Conor McGregor is facing a civil lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting a woman during the NBA Finals in 2023. The alleged incident occurred at the Kaseya Centre in Miami during a game between the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets.
The lawsuit, filed in Florida on Tuesday, alleges that McGregor led the woman, referred to as "Jane Doe," to a private VIP bathroom where the alleged assault took place. McGregor, who denies the accusations, has not faced criminal charges after Miami police dismissed the case.
The lawsuit accuses McGregor of attempting to force the woman into non-consensual acts, including pinning her against a wall and placing her in an arm lock. Along with McGregor, the Miami Heat and Kaseya Centre are named as co-defendants, with claims that they overserved the 36-year-old fighter.
James Dunn, the woman's lawyer, stated that his client, a Wall Street professional, decided to pursue civil action as her only path to justice after prosecutors declined to file criminal charges. She is seeking damages exceeding $75,000, along with compensation for medical treatment and litigation costs.
McGregor’s attorney, Barbara Llanes, dismissed the claims, stating they are "completely false."
This lawsuit follows another recent case involving McGregor. In October, a Dublin jury held him liable for assaulting Nikita Hand in 2018, awarding her £200,000 in damages.
McGregor, a polarising figure in both the sports and legal worlds, has yet to comment publicly on the latest allegations.
