Jamaican Dancehall Legend Elephant Man Recently Revealed That He Has Fathered a Total of 38 children.

The artist, whose real name is Oniel Bryan, took to Instagram live to make the shocking revelation, telling viewers that he has “38 pickney”. Elephant Man's successful career has spanned over several decades since he got his start in Scare Dem Crew, but it seems his mind has not only been on music during this time as he adds the first of his 38 children was born when he was just 17. 

Whilst having many children and starting young may not shock all the fans of Jamaican Dancehall artists, what might do is the fact that 18 of his children were born in the last 5 years. Elephant man has surprised fans before with this shocking reveal, In 2019 when he informed fans he was the father of 20 children. However, in just 5 years Elephant Man has nearly doubled that amount, adding 18 more children to his brood. 

Elephant Man gave several reasons for his ever-growing family, one of which being the effect of growing up ‘young and idle’ in Kingston, Jamaica. In addition to Elephant Man’s clear appetite for women, he claims many women also share a desire for him, adding “Mi might ugly and all of that, but the gyal dem like mi bandy legs… Member a me climb and jump off a di something dem and the gyal dem seh, ‘No man, mi woulda tek a lift up from dah black boy yah’.

Another reason he cited was his dislike of contraception, specifically condoms. He added ‘You nah sex your woman inna nuh condom. You ever go to your woman inna her house inna condom, yuh inna trouble’. With his dislike of protection and his self-proclaimed virality which he attributes to natural remedies, Elephant Man admitted the likelihood of fathering more children in his lifetime was high. 

Elephant Man has previously responded to claims that he cannot possibly be a good father to so many children and denied being an absent father. In 2019, he told a Jamaican interviewer “Me take care of my kids, but sometimes you and the mother have a dispute, and you know how that go.” Elephant Man also reminded viewers of the importance of not believing rumours, referring to rumour that his clearly active sex-life led to him contracting aids - Elephant Man denied those rumors and those that he is not adequately involved in the lives of his 38 children.
