DUBAI PRINCESS DUMPS HUSBAND VIA INSTAGRAM

A princess from Dubai has shocked social media by divorcing her husband on Instagram. A post on the official account of Sheikha Mahra Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the 30-year-old daughter of Dubai's ruler, declared her divorce from her husband Mohammed Bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum. The post read: “Dear Husband, as you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife.”

In repeating the phrase “I divorce you” three times, the princess appears to be referencing the practice of triple talaq. Under traditional Islamic Law, if the husband pronounces “I divorce thee” three times the marriage is dissolved instantly. Talaq is Arabic for divorce and is recognised in certain countries such as Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The pair appear to have unfollowed each other on social media and have also removed all posts they appeared in together. They officially married just over a year ago in May 2023, and had a baby girl in May this year.
