Durham mum Christina Robinson, who brutally murdered her 3-year old son has been jailed for life.

A Durham mother Christina Robinson, who murdered her 3-year old son Dwelaniyah Robinson after a ‘campaign of violence' has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 25 years.

During the 30-year olds trial at Newcastle Crown Court, the court heard the horrific details of how she scolded, caned and beat the child in the weeks leading up to his death. During the investigation investigators found bamboo canes she had used in her attacks and other evidence of her savage crimes. After inflicting countless horrors on her young son, Robinson finally shook Dwelaniyah so viscously that it led to a brain injury and ultimately his death.

As we previously reported, Robinson had initially denied killing or harming her son, despite Dwelaniyah having more than 60 injuries at the time of his death. She had initially argued that the charges brought against her were false, stating:

"I did not kill my child in anyway, however the prosecution chooses to say it, whichever way anyone wants to imagine it, the fact is I did not kill my child…

I stand by that and will forever stand by that, I pray for the day justice will be served."

However, at her sentencing hearing the court heard that Robinson, a self-proclaimed Black Hebrew Israelite, had been inspired by biblical texts to beat her child in order to ‘correct’ him.

The judge said called Robinson’s actions "callous" and added:

"What must have gone through the mind of this little boy being beaten with a cane by his mother despite these terrible burns does not bear thinking about”. Robinson was found guilty on charges of murder and child cruelty and will serve at least 25 years in prison.
