Dancer and former Love Island bombshell Danica Taylor has clapped back at social media users who had harsh words about her latest single 'Ugh'.
Danica has been teasing her new music venture for a while now, but social media users were not too pleased with the teaser of her upcoming single, with many accusing the lyrics of being colourist. However, Danica has hit back letting the haters know she won't be "conforming" to their opinions.
The dancer released two teasers for the song, the first one being a video of her and other dancers vibing to the track outdoors, with Danica herself rocking a classic white vest, denim shorts, and iconic red heels. Fans pointed out that the look appeared to pay homage to Queen Bey's look from the Crazy In Love music video.
The second teaser released by Danica caused a bit more of a stir, as listeners accused her lyrics of being "colourist" due to her pointing out that she is a light-skinned woman.
The polarising lyrics were: "Put a dash of that sass with Jamaica, add a queen light skin make it shake ya, that's the formula that imma make ya"
Responses towards the song appeared to be mixed, with many of Danica's fans, including some of her fellow Love Island girlies, showing love to the dancer for her latest career move.
However, the negative comments towards the track seemed to be a mixture of individuals questioning her choice of lyrics, with others claiming the overall song was just not good.
Danica quickly responded to the hate in her Instagram story, posting a short snippet of herself repeating the hateful comments she received on a whiteboard.
Included in the online speculation was the opinion of music executive Isa Perez, who harshly branded Danica as "embarrassing" further suggesting she has no "darker" friends.
Despite the backlash, Danica is still standing ten toes down on her song, and although she has postponed the release, she has made it clear that the show WILL go on.
