Former football player legend, Michael Owen's teenage daughter, Gemma Owen, is the seventh cast member to join the new Love Island 2022 series for this year.International dressage rider and business owner Gemma is the youngest contestant in this year's line-up so far at 19-years-old, and is hoping to find love in the villa this summer after her last relationship ended. She is from Chester.
Speaking about her reasons for joining the Love Island cast, she said: "I was seeing someone and then that didn't work out so I thought, 'Why not?' I am open to finding love, I'm wanting to have a really fun summer."The Love Island official Twitter account revealed her as the seventh cast member with the caption: "International dressage rider Gemma is trading in her riding boots to score a strapping lad 😍 #LoveIsland".
Gemma has explained her competitive nature in life: "Sport has always been a big thing for me and my family. My dad [Michael Owen] was a professional football player. I've competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11-years-old. I've travelled all across Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions. I would say I'm very competitive."Gemma also spoke about her attitudes towards relationships:
"I will always go for what I want. But at the same time, I'm not going to mess up something for someone who is in a proper relationship or get in the way of a couple if they have a genuine connection. I wouldn't do anything to another girl that I wouldn't be happy with them doing to me."The premiere episode will land on Monday 6th June. Narrator Iain Stirling has deemed the new series as its "sexiest" yet. This follows the news of Love Island casting its first ever deaf contestant, a model and dancer from North Yorkshire called Natasha Ghouri. 23-year-old model, Indiyah Polack, was also signed.
