IVORIAN DOLL DISCUSSES CHALLENGES AND LACK OF INDUSTRY SUPPORT IN MUSIC CAREER

British rapper and influencer Ivorian Doll has opened up about the struggles she faces in the music industry without a support system.

The artist, who derived her stage name from her father’s Ivorian heritage, moved with him to East London from Germany when she was just 3 years old. Ivorian Doll credits her father, a pastor, as her sole motivator and support system, stating, “there’s no-one else encouraging me to do anything… but my Dad.”

In a newly released social media rant, the artist becomes tearful when telling her fans that she “doesn’t have anyone” to encourage her to go to the studio or to help her on her musical journey. Ivorian Doll, who is currently working on her upcoming ‘tape’, became overwhelmed with emotion when discussing the frustration she feels having to do everything “by [herself].”

The 26-year-old made her debut as a solo performer in 2019, following a successful string of collaborations with Abigail Asante. Her debut single ‘Queen of Drill’ gained her widespread popularity and prompted fans to comment on how unfairly “underrated” she was. However, in the last 5 years, IVD has enjoyed some significant successes in her career, including a Daily Duppy that has been viewed 2.8 million times.

According to IVD, the journey has been anything but easy and mostly the result of her own hard work and determination. She credits artists such as Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim as her musical influences. With no Young Money or Junior MAFIA style support system, Ivorian Doll’s frustrations with the lack of help she has received in the industry are palpable.
