Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock Tipped to Win Award for her BBC Racism Documentary

Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock has been tipped to win an award at the inaugural Burberry British Diversity Awards for her BBC Three documentary titled "Race, Pop and Power".

The documentary focused on her personal experiences with racism as the only black member of the hugely successful girl group, Little Mix. Pinnock recalled being "treated differently" from her bandmates Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Jesy Nelson. The 30-year-old also detailed the racism she encountered in the music industry as a black woman. She admitted she was made to feel like the "token black girl" in the band and the colour of her skin was being used "to define my image within the group".

Pinnock has been nominated alongside fellow celebrities, comedian John Bishop and Olympic gold medallist Tom Daley, at the upcoming British Diversity Awards. Bishop and Daley have been recognised for their work supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

The Burberry British Diversity Awards founder Linda Riley said: "Celebrities like Leigh-Anne Pinnock, John Bishop and Tom Daley are fantastic role models and are incredibly deserving of their nominations."

June Sarpong will host the 2022 British Diversity Awards at London's Grand Connaught Rooms on 10th March.
