NIGERIAN ARTIST BURNA BOY REVEALS TO FANS THAT HE HAS NO PLANS ON HAVING CHILDREN UNTIL HE IS MORE 'SETTLED'

Nigerian musician Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, recently revealed to his fans via an Instagram live session that he has no plans on having children just yet.

In the video, a shirtless Burna Boy gives a seldom heard male perspective of what he feels his future children ‘deserve’. Through a croaked voice marked by both his Nigerian heritage and his time in London, he responds to a fan who asked why he doesn’t have kids yet, stating “Bro, because I don’t want to have kids yet”.

The self-proclaimed Afro-Fusion artist is no stranger to wealth, yet despite generating millions (billions in Naira) from his recent international tour, he cited that a greater stability was needed in both his personal and professional life to have kids. The artist told fans:

“Have you seen my operation bro? Have you seen my mum, the way she loves me? Have you seen my dad the way he loves me? I know I can’t give that to anyone right now with the life I live."

The Grammy-winner went on to elaborate on what he would like parenthood to look like for him and the life he desires for his offspring. Burna Boy told fans ‘when I’m settled and I can be there for my children everyday, every single minute of every day, every second...

That's just me and that's a personal thing because I feel like my kids deserve better than I got. And I got both my mum and dad so you understand?”

Over the last two years, the Grammy-winner has performed a series of international concerts which have collectively grossed him well over £10 million. Not only do these remarkable numbers push Burna Boy ahead of fellow high-grossing Nigerian recording artists (such as Davido and Wizkid) but Burna Boy has also remained distinct from his musical Nigerian counterparts by maintaining a less scandalous personal life. One notable way the ‘African Giant’ singer has done this is his absence of unplanned children, baby mother controversies and stories of marital infidelity - something that Davido has never managed to rid himself of. Other than his high-profile 2-year relationship with London-born rapper Stef London, Burna Boy has kept his love life quite private, so much so he faced allegations of impotence from fans, to which he responded:

"When I see the bants and the things people say about me not being able to have kids, I said this is unimportant…

talking about some impotent shxt. Let's even say that it's true that I can't have any kids, have you not heard of IVF?"

Residents, It seems Burna Boy is not letting the pressures of society nor the demands of fame and fortune determine when he decides to have children, and we think it’s positive to see men openly discuss not rushing into fatherhood for the wrong reasons.
