Former footballer and television pundit Jermaine Jenas has separated from wife Ellie Penfold after 16 years together. The news comes just months after Jenas was dismissed from his roles at the BBC following allegations of inappropriate messaging. Ellie, a former model, took to Instagram earlier today to share the difficult news with the public.

After 16 years together and four wonderful children, Jermaine and I have decided to part ways. We will remain friends and continue to co-parent. The couple, who married in 2011, have spent over a decade together, building a family and navigating the challenges of public life.

The split follows months of turmoil for the former England midfielder, who was fired from his role as a pundit on Match of the Day and co-host of The One Show. The dismissal came after allegations surfaced that Jenas had sent unsolicited inappropriate messages to young female colleagues. Following the scandal, Jenas expressed deep remorse.
