US rapper and YouTuber DDG has blasted his ex partner, Little Mermaid actress and singer Halle Bailey for allegedly not allowing him to see their 1-year-old son Halo.

DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr, has come under scrutiny several times throughout his relationship with the high-profile star. The pair first sparked dating rumours in January 2022 and went public with their relationship in August of the same year. From the beginning of their relationship they were flooded with comments by fans and critics alike who viewed the millionaire Disney princess and the boyish rapper as a mismatched pair.

The couple privately welcomed their son Kylie-Jenner style in 2023, eventually announcing the momentous occasion on Instagram, stating:

“Welcome to the world my halo. The world is desperate to know you”

Unfortunately, the pair met the same fate as most young Hollywood couples before them, announcing their split on social media in October 2024, DDG posted:

‍

“Dear friends and supporters, After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways.”

‍

DDG added that the pair were “still best friends” and committed to their “roles as co-parents”. However, it seems that friendship has hit the rocks several times in the past year, as DDG was not the first of the duo to criticize the other parenting on a public platform. In November 2024, Halle took to Instagram to share her “upset” about DDG’s decision to have their young son feature on one of the livestreams of mega YouTuber Kai Cenat. The video streamed to Kai’s YouTube and Twitch accounts which boast a combined following of more than 24 million subscribers, without Halle’s permission. 

The 24-year-old mother posted to X:

“ I am out of town and I don't approve of my baby being on a stream tonight. I wasn't told or notified and I am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people,"

However, after facing online backlash, Halle later stated she may have “over reacted” and expressed regret for taking the situation to social media.

DDG, who has become known for his indulgent livestreams to his over 6.5 million fans, recently took to social media to vent about his own co-parenting struggles. He started by announcing that he too did not want to take their problems to the “internet” for fear it could negatively impact his son, but stated he was a “Dad that really [doesn't] know what to do at this point”.

During a livestream on Friday March 7th, the frustrated father-of-one shared:

“Every day I don't see my son I am going to number it. Let's see, I know she will let me son then…this is the only way. I have not been able to see my son behind closed doors.”

He added:

‍

“I don't care who she is talking to, who she is with, who she is filming movies with. I just care about my son. She knows this makes me frustrated, she knows this is the only way to get under my skin because I don't care what she does.”

DDG added that the things Halle Bailey had said to him felt to him like a “leave us alone” message, essentially estranging him from his young son. DDG then became notably emotional when exclaiming that no-one in the world could tell him that he’s a “deadbeat” or a “bad Dad” and highlighting that if his son could talk he would wish to spend more time with him.

DDG’s frustration that even the Nanny was able to spend more time with his son than him, was met with compassion from fans, however many cited his potentially reckless decision to include Halo in a livestream without Halle's permission as the catalyst for their co-parenting struggles.

Let’s hope the young pair can get back on track and resume a more amicable co-parenting relationship!
