Its been reported that Drake’s security guard has been shot in the chest in a drive-by shooting outside the rapper's Toronto mansion. Drake's mansion is naturally in a very safe and wealthy part of Toronto called Bridle Path, where several other high-profile musicians such as Celine Dion and Mick Jagger live. As we previously reported, Drake's mansion was recently depicted on the cover artwork for Kendrick Lamar’s latest diss track ‘Not Like Us’ - where Drake's house is represented as a hub for multiple sex offenders. The house has now become the subject of a much more serious investigation after gun shots went off in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the shooting happened at around 2am (EDT) and the shooters fled the scene. Later reports revealed that the victim was Drake’s 48-year old security guard, who was rushed to the nearby hospital where he underwent surgery. The man’s condition has been reported to be serious, but not life threatening and his official identity has not yet been released. Although it has been reported that the Canadian star was not at home during the shooting, a police perimeter has been set up around his mansion and Drake is reportedly co-operating with the investigation.
The shooting comes amid Drake's ongoing rap feud with several other notable rappers including (but by no means limited to) Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, ASAP Rocky and Future. The most recent instalment in the ongoing rap war was Drake’s ‘The Heart Part 6’ , a response to Kendrick’s ‘Not Like Us’. In which Drake makes many allegations about the California-born rappers personal life, including his son being fathered by someone else in the following lyric:
Like if Dave really fxxked your girl and got her pregnant
Talk about breeding resentment.
Drake goes on to allege Kendrick's marriage in turmoil and that he hasn't seen his kids in '6 months'. One bar, that many fans thought went too far, was Drakes reference to Kendrick’s childhood molestation, particularly where Drake mocking raps ‘Touch my body by Mariah Carey play you probably start reflecting’. Drake 5 minute and 26 second diss track see's the rapper laying out his hypothesis that the reason Kendrick thinks he like's underaged girls is because Kendrick was molested as a youngster.
As we reported previously, the feud seems to have definitely reached the point of no return and whilst it remains unclear whether or not this shooting was a violent escalation of what began as a lyrical warfare or an unrelated attack. It is clear that the Canadian superstar has made many enemies in the music industry and we fear that these high-profile lyrical spars have the potential to turn violent, as they have so many times before.
