RUSSIA REPORTEDLY DECLARES THE UNITED STATES AN ENEMY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY

RUSSIA REPORTEDLY DECLARES THE UNITED STATES AN ENEMY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY

Global relations has taken another worrying hit due to the ongoing invasion in Ukraine by Russia. A Kremlin spokesperson has allegedly defined the United States an "enemy."

Press secretary to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov reportedly said, “We are now an enemy country for them, just as they are for us,” during a press briefing last week. President Putin had previously referred to the US and Western nations supporting Ukraine as "unfriendly states" or "opponents." Russia has been furious over Ukraine’s use of American-supplied weapons on Russian territory.

However, according to Agentstvo, an independent Russian investigative site, this is the first time they have publicly labelled the US as an "enemy" state. Just two days ago, U.S. President Joe Biden reaffirmed his strong support for Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Biden cautioned that Putin would continue beyond Ukraine if successful: "Putin is not going to stop at Ukraine.... All of Europe will be threatened. We are not going to let that happen." Standing alongside Macron, he emphasized: "The United States is standing strong with Ukraine. We will not — I say it again — walk away."
