Vogue Editor Anna Wintour Planning London’s Version of The Met Gala

#Vogue editor, #AnnaWintour, is planning a ‘philanthropic arts extravaganza’ that she is hoping will take over the world “in the way the #MetGala did” – whilst also raising money for the struggling arts scene in London.

Some confirmed attendees are #NaomiCampbell, #Stormzy and #MichaelaCoel, alongside the mayor of London, #SadiqKhan.

The event will take place at London’s Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, and is set to last under an hour; however, unlike most other fashion shows, it will be ticketed and open to the public.

Ms Wintour is considered one of the most powerful women in fashion, and has fine form when it comes to arts philanthropy.

In May she was overseeing the Met Gala’s black tie annual fundraiser. The MET GALA event, which also marks the opening of the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute exhibition, tends to often get more coverage for its huge red carpet surprises and astronomical five figure ticket prices.

She further said that philanthropy in events was not “the only solution – but it is a solution, certainly”.

The Vogue event is set to be held in September just before London fashion week. With London's fashion scene currently suffering since the pandemic, huge names including Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Victoria Beckham have been moving the majority of their shows to Paris - which has created a noticeably empty and lacklustre London schedule.
