WhatsApp Down as Thousands Report Issues With the Service

WhatsApp Down as Thousands Report Issues With the Service

The WhatsApp messaging platform has gone down both in the UK and in other parts of the world as thousands of reports made.

Reports of technical issues with the app were first raised just before 8am GMT on Tuesday.Thousands of users have used social media avenues such as Twitter and Facebook to complain about the outage, with many reporting that the app will not load. Issues raised with the Meta-owned app have predominantly been that users are unable to send or receive messages.

The app has also been showing that it's "connecting" to the server, however, it fails to do so.Downdetector, which is used to track outages and malfunctions, has reported over 57,600 cases submitted close to 9am, however, there could be tens of thousands of undetected cases .Downdetector also detected that over 11,000 WhatsApp users in India and 19,000 in Singapore are also experiencing technical difficulties

.A spokesperson for Meta made a statement saying: "We're aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we're working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible." WhatsApp is one of the most used messaging platforms and has roughly over 2bn active users globally.There is currently no information on what the issue is, nor when users can expect to see a resolution.
