Britains Oldest Homeowner' Has Seen Property Value Rise Over £549,000 from £800

Branded as "Britains Oldest Homeowner", a grandma, who has lived in the very same house for the past 77 years has seen its value rise from just £800 to a whopping £550,000.

Winifred Flemming, at now age 106, bought her home just after the 2nd world war in 1945. Buying it for just under £1000 and now 77 years later it is worth over 600 times that. The pensioner has refused to move into assisted living, saying she is still "fighting fit" and able to look after herself. But she admitted having carers who visit her home a few times week to help her with some washing and duties around the house.

A fews quote from Mrs Flemming read: "I worked extremely hard too afford this house- which I originally bought for just £800 "When I moved to West Wickham, it was a lovely area and I've always had lots of friends and family around here"

I've got so comfortable here over the years and a lot of my most cherished memories all took place within these walls"We know everyone is thinking, £800 back then must be of more value than it would be now, with the British pound losing 98% of its value ... right?Well true but not quite, an online calculator estimated £800 back in 1945 would be an estimated equivalent of around £36,790.60 in todays market.
