Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn’s long-awaited boxing showdown is finally set to take place on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It comes 30 months after their initial fight was cancelled due to Benn’s failed drug tests. Tensions boiled over at Tuesday’s press conference in Manchester when the two fighters came face-to-face. As Benn attempted to provoke his opponent, Eubank Jr responded by slapping him across the right cheek with an egg. The shocking moment sparked chaos on stage, with both fighters’ teams rushing in as security intervened to separate the pair.

Following the incident, Benn took to X (formerly Twitter) to fire back at Eubank Jr, writing: "That's the only shot you'll land on me, you f***** p****. Two rounds, you are finished @ChrisEubankJr." Eubank Jr responded with his own jab on the social media platform: "Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drug tests. So I contaminated him with an egg."

The egg reference stems from Benn’s 2022 claim that excessive egg consumption may have contributed to his positive drug tests—a theory he later denied while fighting to clear his name. Benn was eventually reinstated to compete in the UK last November following a ruling from an anti-doping panel. However, that didn’t stop Eubank Jr from mocking his past controversy at the press conference.

Taunting his rival, Eubank Jr asked: "Conor, I’ve been meaning to ask you this for a long time. How many eggs did you have to eat to fail those two drug tests, you dirty little omelette?" Benn wrote back: "The reality is, I've been cleared three times—by the NADP, the WBC, and UKAD—people a lot smarter than you. I've been cleared. Two, you will never be cleared of being a w*****. You have the IQ of a five-year-old child."

Their fathers, Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn, famously clashed twice in the 1990s—Eubank Sr winning the first bout in 1990 before their 1993 rematch ended in a draw.
