Dave's brother gets jail sentence cut after making 'exceptional progress' in therapy

Rapper Dave's brother Christopher Omoregie, 28, has had his minimum jail term cut as he will now be able to apply to the Parole Board one year sooner.Christopher was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 18 years after he and two other teenagers were found guilty of murdering 15-year-old Sofyen Belamouadden at a London tube station.The High Court said Christopher had made "exceptional and unforeseen progress" in his therapy programe called Psychodrama.His therapist added that Christopher was great at 'communication, tolerance, warmth and generosity'.

In 2020, a judge also reported that Christopher had developed remorse for his actions and was a "bright man, with a very positive record of behaviour in prison". He was also reportedly studying for an Open University degree.The judge spoke about the devastating impact the murder had upon the victim's 'immediate family, who continue to mourn his loss and have difficulty in coming to terms with the events of that day'.

He added: "He was unarmed and the manner of his death, being hunted down and killed, continues to cast a very long shadow over the lives of those who were close to him."

Dave named his debut studio album Psychodrama, after his brother's therapy programme.In his song 'Drama', Dave spoke about the impact his brother's sentencing had on him, who was 11-years-old at the time.He said: "Is it survival of the fittest or is he a killer? Losing dad was big. Losing you was even bigger. Never had a father and I needed you to be a figure."He then rapped: "I remember when you got sentenced and I was throwing up. It's like they took a piece of my freedom . . . I just lost the only f***ing person I idolised. For my entire life I copied you down to the finest line."
