It seems that the Elizabeth Line on Crossrail is in the final stages of it's development, with 2022 set to be the year that everything is finalised.
Whilst the line's completion is now just around the corner, it is long overdue. The initial completion date was due to be back in December 2018.
The dress rehearsal will not be a speedy process and is likely to take up to four months. The line will have to test 150+ scenarios, such as passengers becoming ill and signal failures.
The line is expected to have cost around £20bn to set up and run and should be open to the public from June 2022. However, a specific date has not been released as of yet.
Sadiq Khan is more than happy with the progress so far and said: "Reaching the start of trial operations is a significant milestone in the delivery of the Elizabeth Line. The next few months are crucial in making sure the railway can open safely next year."
