Kevin Spacey Charged with Sexual Assault Against Three Men
Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey has been charged with four counts of sexual assault against three men by the UK's Crown Prosecution Service after multiple allegations.The 62-year-old actor has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. The alleged incidents of sexual assault reportedly took place in London between March 2005 and August 2008, and in Gloucestershire in April 2013.Rosemary Ainslie, head of the Crown Prosecution Service Special Crime Division, said: "
The CPS has authorised criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, for four counts of sexual assault against three men. He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. The charges follow a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation. The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Spacey are active and that he has the right to a fair trial."
The long-awaited decision to charge Spacey was unveiled after the Crown Prosecution Service spent over a year reviewing a file passed to them by the Metropolitan Police.Allegations of sexual assault and misconduct were brought forward against Spacey by "Rent" and "Star Trek: Discovery" actor Anthony Rapp in 2017.
Rapp accused Spacey of making a non-consensual sexual advance towards him when he was 14. The charges announced by the Crown Prosecution Service are the latest developments in a series of legal battles against the actor, both criminal and civil.The Daily Mail reported last year that Spacey had been interviewed by the police in 2019 in the U.S.
Details of his whereabouts have been scarce since. In August 2019 he unexpectedly turned up to give a poetry reading at a museum in Rome. he was cast in his first project last year, a supporting role in "L'umo Che Disegno Dio" (The Man Who Drew God), from Italian director Franco Nero.Last year, Spacey was ordered by a Los Angeles court to pay approximately �22.4 million to the producer MRC behind the Netflix show House of Cards due to losses brought on by his firing for sexual misconduct.
