It has been almost a month since news erupted of lifestyle influencer Rebecca Vieira's scandalous affair with US rapper Slim Jxmmy, and it appears emotions are still very high for Blazin' Squad's Marcel Somerville. The shocking revelation of Rebecca's infidelity toward her husband, Marcel, sent ripples through social media, with receipts showing compelling evidence of the affair.
The couple, known for sharing heartwarming family videos, their home life, and romantic moments publicly, were seen as the epitome of a healthy and happy relationship, setting "couple goals" for their followers. Yet, Rebecca's affair starkly reminds us that the seemingly perfect lives of influencers often conceal deeper truths, challenging the notion of achievable "couple goals."
Marcel uploaded a mysterious video to his Instagram account on Sunday, which brandished the phrase "#Loyalty". The post featured a snippet of a song Marcel had made which samples Kendrick Lamar's "Loyalty", featuring Marcel repeating the phrase "I got all the receipts you had your fun".
Marcel's post did not go down particularly well, with many calling it a "diss track" and questioning Marcel's approach to the situation.
Today, in a subsequent post, Marcel shared a carousel featuring himself and his toddler son, Roman, accompanied by a reflective statement. He expressed the emotions experienced since the scandal—anger, embarrassment, anxiety, depression, loneliness, and grief. He noted the added pressure of public scrutiny and unsolicited advice, leading to hasty decisions.
"There’s no right way to handle betrayal and I’ve experienced so many feeling since everything happen that i feel a different emotion every hour of the day.
Anger, Embarrassment, anxiety, depression, questioning my worth, loneliness, grief And some times those feelings coupled with the noise of having the whole world knowing my situation and everyone having opinions and telling me what I should do and not do can make you make choice in haste”
Clarifying the intent behind his previous post, Marcel stated it was meant as his public statement on the affair, not an attack, acknowledging it wasn't the best approach. Emphasising his priority is his son's well-being and his own mental health, Marcel announced his decision to step back, heal, and focus on peace.
"The so called ‘diss track’ wasn’t an attack, it was going to be my statement about the situation but it wasn’t the best way to do it, I realised this after the fact which is why I chose to remove the snippet. I don’t need to explain to the world how my heart is broken, because you already know, so what I’m going to do is take some time to heal and give my self some much needed peace”
Marcel affirmed that any future decisions regarding him and Rebecca would be made privately, away from the public spectacle, underscoring his commitment to peace, healing, and prioritising his son above all.
