The Duchess of Sussex's podcast, Archetypes, has been dropped by the online streaming service, due to reports that the podcast did not produce enough content to justify the full payout of the $20 million (£15 million) deal that she and her husband, Prince Harry, signed with Spotify in 2020.
According to the New York Post, a joint statement from the couple's media company, Archewell, and Spotify announced that they had "mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series [they] made together."
“Meghan is continuing to develop more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform," said an Archewell Productions spokesperson to Wall Street Journal.
The podcast hosted guests, including the likes of Paris Hilton, Mindy Kaling, Mariah Carey and Serena Williams.
Piers Morgan, vocal opposer of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ‘step back’ from the Royal Family, was quick to Tweet how he was ‘distraught’ at the cancellation of the podcast.
Morgan was also quick to point out how the his podcast was thriving stating how the podcast is the “fastest-growing news/opinion show on YouTube”.
