STORMZY FACES BACKLASH OVER NEW MCDONALD’S COLLABORATION FOLLOWING ‘FREE PALESTINE’ SUPPORT

Stormzy, one of the UK’s most prominent rappers, has sparked controversy after unveiling his latest collaboration with McDonald’s. The partnership includes restaurants offering a special ‘Stormzy Meal,’ which features his favourite items:

The Stormzy Meal
  • 9 Piece Chicken McNuggets
  • McDonald's Fries (Medium)
  • Sprite Zero (Medium)
  • Oreo McFlurry (Regular)

Fans, however, are not taking the announcement lightly, with many pointing to Stormzy’s previous public support for the ‘Free Palestine’ movement. Social media users have been vocal about the perceived contradiction in his actions.

On Twitter, several users shared their disappointment. @iycicles commented:

"Seeing Stormzy do a McDonald’s ad after saying ‘Free Palestine’ is very disappointing. Is a boycott too much to ask?"

Another user, @buckfastbjork, criticised celebrities for lacking integrity, tweeting:

"These celebrities don’t have an ounce of integrity. One moment it’s ‘Free Palestine’ and the next it’s brand deals with McDonald’s. Stormzy ain’t no goat, what a f***** melt."*

A third user, @nfivesince99, highlighted that Stormzy had allegedly deleted his previous posts in support of Palestine before announcing the collaboration:

"Stormzy made sure to delete his post about Palestine before he announced that McDonald’s collab."

The now-deleted post has become a focal point for criticism, with fans calling out the rapper’s inconsistencies.

Despite some criticism, the campaign has generated significant buzz, with many excited to see the collaboration come to life.

At the core of the campaign is a film directed by Paul Hunter, showcasing Stormzy casually walking into McDonald’s to place his order. To mark the occasion, Stormzy’s local Croydon McDonald’s has been temporarily rebranded as ‘Big Mike’s,’ where fans can get The Stormzy Meal 48 hours early and the collaboration featuring merch and a meet-and-greet.
