Pop sensation Raye has etched her name in Brit Awards history, securing an unprecedented seven nominations in a single year, marking a remarkable career turnaround after navigating years in limbo at a major record label. Her standout achievement includes two nods for Song of the Year, as well as recognition in the Artist, Pop, and R&B categories. Notably, despite her debut release a decade ago, Raye finds herself in the New Artist category.
The Brit Awards 2024 nominations reflect a strong presence of female artists, with solo women or all-female groups making up more than half of the overall nominees. Alongside Raye's dominance, British rap claims its share of the spotlight, with Central Cee and J Hus each earning four nominations, and three each for Little Simz and Dave. In the Album category, Little Simz and J Hus compete with Raye, while Blur adds a touch of seasoned perspective with their contemplative exploration of middle age.
Among the first-time nominees are rappers K-Trap and Casisdead, alt-pop singers CMAT and Caroline Polachek, dance producer Barry Can't Swim, Afrobeats vocalist Asake, neo-soul singer Cleo Sol, and others, showcasing the diverse talent emerging in the music scene.
